Medical VISA to India
- Medical Tourism in India has achieved incredible heights in recent years. The advancement in medical infrastructure in India has garnered much attention from Medical tourists worldwide. In fact, India ranks seven among the top 20 wellness tourism markets and four in the Asia-Pacific region
- Currently, India’s visa-on-arrival system allows foreign tourists to stay for 60 days from the date of arrival. Patients need to apply for an e-Medical Visa, whereas for attendants, a separate e-Medical Attendant Visa needs to be applied. The validity of the e-Attendant Visa will be the same as for the patient.
- For e-Medical, e-Medical Attendant Visa, applicants of the eligible countries/territories may apply online a minimum of four days in advance of the date of arrival with a window of 120 days. Example: If you are applying on 1st Sept, the applicant can select arrival date from 5th Sept to 2nd Jan.
- The patients immigrating to India should keep in mind that their purpose is genuine and is only to receive the best treatment. Due to the same reason, the Indian immigration authorities need the applicants to satisfy the below- mentioned criteria:

Important instructions
- 1. For e- e-Medical, e- e-Medical Attendant, applicants of the eligible countries/territories may apply online minimum 4 days in advance of the date of arrival with a window of 120 days. Example: If you are applying on 1st Sept then the applicant can select an arrival date from 5th Sept to 2nd Jan.
- 2. Recent front-facing photograph with white background and photo page of Passport containing personal details like name, date of birth, nationality, expiry date, etc. are to be uploaded mandatorily by the applicant. Additionally, one more document depending upon the e- Visa type, would also be required to be uploaded. The application is liable to be rejected if the uploaded documents and photograph are not clear / as per specification.
- 3. The e-Visa fee is country/territory specific. Bank transaction charges of 2.5% will be charged additionally on applicable e-Visa fees. The fee must be paid at least 4 days before the expected date of travel, otherwise, the application will not be processed.
- 4. Make sure you are traveling on the Passport for which you have applied for the e-Visa.
- 5. Every applicant must upload their front-facing photograph clicked on a white background along with a photo page of the Passport. It is important to keep in mind that your application can be rejected if your photograph or the uploaded documents aren’t as per the specification.
- 6. The e-Visa fees should be paid 4 days before the expected date of travel to avoid cancellation or delay in processing. Another point to be noted is that the e- Visa fee is territory/country-specific and that an additional 2.5% bank transaction charges are levied on e-Visa fees.
- 7. Once the e-visa fees are submitted, it is non- refundable. The same is used for processing the application and is not dependent on the Rejection of Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) or Grant.
- 8. Applicants are requested to carry a copy of Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) while they are traveling to India. Besides, the applicants should make sure that the ETA status reflects ‘GRANTED’ which can be tracked online by selecting the Visa Status option on the website.
- 9. The applicant’s biometric details will be captured at Immigration upon arrival in India.
- 10. Another thing to keep in mind is that the e-Visa is non- convertible, non-extendable and is not valid for entering Cantonment and Protected/Restricted Areas. However, you can request permission from the Civil Authority.
- 11. Once you have made the e-Visa payment, the status update may take up to 2 hours which can be due to network delays/technical reasons. If you wish to reapply, it is advised that you wait for at least 2 hours for the payment status update. Further, if you have made the payment but the status is not updated, then you are requested to click the ‘Verify Payment/Pay Visa Fee’ tab or the link Verify Payment.
- 12. Travelers from yellow fever-affected countries are liable to carry Yellow Fever Vaccination Card upon their arrival in India. In case they fail to do so, they may be quarantined for 6 days on their arrival in India. You can also visit the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare for the latest guidelines issued regarding yellow fever countries.

- Registration for Bangladeshi And Pakistani Nationals International travellers having Pakistani Passport or Pakistani origin may please apply for regular Visa at Indian Mission.
- Patients and attendants traveling from Pakistan and Bangladesh have to make sure that the requirements that are mentioned in Para 106 and Para 118 of the Visa Manual match for citizens of Bangladesh and Pakistan respectively. Furthermore, the citizens of these countries should stand by their date of arrival and departure as per the present policies of their countries.
